About Us

Our Mission

The RAHCC is dedicated to healthy lifestyle choices, preventing and reducing substance misuse and promoting safety in collaboration with youth, families and other sectors of society.

About The RAHCC

The Rochester/Auburn Hills Community Coalition (RAHCC) is a volunteer, collaborative organization of area residents, professionals, business leaders and community leaders. We are dedicated to supporting healthy lifestyle choices, preventing and reducing substance misuse and promoting safety in collaboration with youth, families and other sectors of society.

Our efforts and programs are primarily focused on youth but include building adult awareness of the factors influencing our community’s children – including peer pressure and parental behaviors – and providing support in resolving the issues we all face.

RAHCC Students and Administrators in group

The RAHCC continuously examines the risk factors relevant in the community and strategies about how to overcome them. To do this, we conduct in-school surveys, collect accredited national data and utilize resources such as The Search Institute Attitudes and Beliefs Survey.

History

Our story begins in 1995 when the Rochester Coalition Against Drug Abuse and Violence- a group of Rochester educators and other concerned individuals- came together sharing concerns about young people in the community drinking, smoking and using other drugs.

After incorporating Auburn Hills in 1999, the newly named Rochester/Auburn Hills Community Coalition joined what is known today as the Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities. As the RAHCC budget and funding have evolved over the years, so have its programs, staff and events.

Thank you, Dr. Bradley Barnes – RAHCC Founder, for serving our community for many years! An appreciation bench for Dr. Barnes can be found on the Paint Creek Trail in Rochester.
